Princess Serani profile is up, and an announcement about old chapters

The princess of the Salenth Kingdom, Serani, gets her own profile page! She’s headstrong and not going to take anything from anyone and the gossip corner has all sorts of rumors about her and also the protagonist of Wandering Fortunes maybe wants to give her a smooch

ANYWAY, I’ve taken down old in-progress chapters for Slubes and Darmenzi. They’re old and I dunno that I want them public. They’re each *one dollar* as an ebook so it’s not a big deal. The previews of the final book are still up, though. It’s just that I’ve improved so much since these in-progress chapters I want to look forward. I don’t know if I’ll do this regularly, like every book’s serial release will eventually be made unavailable, maybe at some point they’ll be so good that I won’t even mind them being up. And at some point maybe Slubes and Darmenzi will just become free ebooks all the time. Who knows what the future holds!

However if I do hide unfinished Wandering Fortunes chapters they’ll still be available for patrons on Patreon. Slubes and Darmenzi would be too but I wasn’t posting chapters directly into Patreon back then it seems so those are just links to pages that don’t exist now. Anyway, speaking of Patreon, I’m gonna post another new profile on there today if you’re interested, and of course the next chapter is already available for patrons, so check it out if you have an interest in reading things and then reading more things!

Cloudy Cuckoo Cosmail accepting submissions!

So for a while now I’ve had a goal on my Patreon where I start “Cloudy Cuckoo Cosmail” which would be a comic series where people (like you!) send emails to characters in the Cloudy Cuckoo Cosmos and they get answered in a little comic story. For various reasons I’ve changed that to “regularly update” and am going ahead with this crazy thing. This will not be drawn by me, but by a talented artist, possibly rotated.

You can send a message to any character from the Cloudy Cuckoo Cosmos and I’ll choose one for each comic. (There’s a list of major characters here, but I’ll accept messages to even the most minor of characters.) You can ask a character something specific to them or a story they appeared in, something generic (like Top’s favorite brand of chips or whatever), or you don’t even have to ask a question, I dunno, do what you want, I’m not asking the questions here. Other characters may appear as well depending on the message, so feel free to ask about other characters in your email! Plus some of them don’t even have internet access, so like, I’m gonna have to reroute any emails Numer gets to Zeth and have him deliver them…

I would prefer receiving the emails at my actual email, dutholec at cloudycuckoocosmos.com, for ease of keeping track, but I’ll consider ones sent in the comments or on Mastodon or Twitter or Patreon or wherever! Just format it how it would look as an actual email so it can appear as such in the comic. Also, have fun with it, because that’s my goal regardless.

Wandering Fortunes Chapter 24 is up!

Wandering Fortunes Chapter 24: I Love a Parade!

Wait. There’s a love plot?

If you want to see where this is going sooner than next month, you can take a look at my Patreon! Patrons can see chapters a month early, as well as extra regular updates. You can also give to my Ko-fi for an early chapter or a signed copy of a book!

New Species Profile up for Kanhase

Introduced in the most recent chapter, kanhases can be found all throughout Derantu but vary widely throughout. Check out the profile! And check out the new Pokemon Moon comic coming sometime within the next week unless I forget but I definitely won’t.

(A new profile will be going up soon early for Patreon backers, but because the middle of the month snuck up on me I… haven’t written it yet. I need to get on that.)

Now up, Wandering Fortunes Chapter 23: Friends Don’t Let Friends Rot in a Basement

The new chapter of Wandering Fortunes is up! A new forest! New friends! New eats! Fashion? And something only seen before in previous novels. Chapter 23: Friends Don’t Let Friends Rot in a Basement features Top and his friends meeting some new friends in the Salenth Kingdom, and in the process help a new friend make something of their life. It also features a song by Top!

You can read the next chapter early if you give or pledge to my Patreon or Ko-fi; a $3 pledge or a single coffee, will let you read it early. You can also get other things like weekly updates on my Patreon, or special books through Ko-fi. Check them out!

New Wandering Fortunes Chapter 22: The Pearl Kingdom

About a year and a half ago our protagonist friends arrived at New Zhopolis, and discovered a seedy hive of wretched folk out for no one but themselves. (A few months later they found some good folk though.) Now we’re now and they’ve arrived at a new kingdom on a new planet. What will they find at their new home? It’s as big as New Zhopolis, but warmer, shinier, more colorful–but is it nicer? Join them as they explore their new home in Chapter 22: The Pearl Kingdom.

If you want to read the next chapter in a hurry, they go up a month early on my Patreon, which also has weekly updates of what I’m currently working on and other behind-the-scenes odds and ends for people who give monthly pledges. You can also give a single donation at my Ko-fi and get the next chapter early.

Darmenzi is one year old today!

Well, in about a month it will b…

Wait, really? I released it one year ago today??? I thought that was next month! Well, fig!

So yeah, one year ago today I released the Darmenzi as an ebook on Smashwords. Maybe the February date was me thinking of the physical book’s release, which came a bit later on Lulu. This was all a little over a year after I’d put an in-progress version up for free online; you can still read that, too! It’s nowhere near as good as the final book, which is like, only a dollar on Smashwords anyway.

So, yeah, that’s a thing! You know, legally, this book is eligible for awards. Which awards? I don’t know I honestly have never paid attention to any awards for anything ever. Okay that’s a lie I paid attention to the Nintendo Power awards but there’s no way those weren’t rigged. In terms of books… not really. I should maybe fix that. It doesn’t help that I’m generally about 30 years behind on books. But I digress.

I’d wanted to have a special preview of something for this date, but that was when I thought it was in February! So, uh, an audiobook of Darmenzi is still planned to be made. So far we have only hit one major snag. And that’s… that… I haven’t… made… Dangeresque 3 yet. No but for real I apparently talked about doing some initial recording well over a year ago now and that’s just absolutely INSANE. So much gets in the way–my forgetful memory, which I’ve tried to alleviate with a gigantic two whole lines in my agenda of nothing but AUDIOBOOK over and over, but eventually even that just kind of… becomes part of the noise. Even when I do remember, well, both I and the guy I’m recording it with run into problems, schedule conflicts, technology issues, and general low spirits and sickness. Even if it’s a bit past the exciting time of release, this audiobook is going to be produced… even if it might not be until the second anniversary.

Wandering Fortunes Intermission is up

Wandering Fortunes Intermission is just a short piece to bridge the first and second parts of the book. It’s not much! It’s a bit fun.

It’s up a bit late; the last couple days my foot has been in pain again (it used to do this yearly around this time; it skipped last year for whatever reason) so I’ve been kind of out of commission on doing things. The next chapter should be up on Patreon tomorrow. I hope I’ll be up to mess with it.

New Short Story! Liquid Melancholy

It’s time for a scaaaary story and–what? Halloween is over? Oh, so it is. Well, it’s not actually scary. Unless you count depression and loneliness to be scary. So… it’s scary.

Liquid Melancholy is a return to some old frenemies and wait that’s how you spell frenemy? I mean, it’s in spellchecker and that’s how you spell it?? But friend has an I before E except after C and oh never mind.

Liquid Melancholy heads back to Mintop to see how Conrad the Conqueror is doing. He has plans, but who cares about him we’re focusing on the magma monster here! Nobody ever visits the magma monster, and that has made Cagnorm lonely. They want a friend. Will they find it? To what lengths will they go to find one? That’s what this story looks at. Hope you like it!
