Long Distance Long Girlfriend Audio Adaptation coming soon!

After a year of on-and-off work and delays, the audio adaptation of Long Distance Long Girlfriend is finally done and will be released Monday, March 20th, at 18:00 EST (that’s Eastern Standard time, not Eastern Daylight Savings Time).

It’s a wonderful 20-minute adaptation, using the lovely artwork of Lila by Eshie made for the original story, and voiced by Princess Lil. Yes, Lila is getting a voice! It also features music by Pooksy and video editing by Morbid.

For those who want to see it early, it’s released early on my Sponsus at the $5 tier, so you can go watch it right now if you’re too excited to wait and want to help fund future endeavors like this!

Evolution of A Weird Trend in Youtube

The other day Youtube recommended a video to me, Evolution of Deleting Save Files in Kirby Games.

Well, weird, but as it’s not something many people do, it’s nice there’s a video even though it’s probably really boring.

Later I was recommended a video, Evolution of Deleting Save Files in Kirby Games.

It was by a different account.

There are no fewer than FOUR videos dedicated to that concept. Not only that, they are ALL in the same format: Evolution of [blank] in [blank] games. Where did this format of videos come from, and more importantly, WHY ARE THEY ALL NAMED THE SAME? And they were all released within several days of each other!

I seem to recall this format starting a while ago, but generally with something pretty straightforward, generally boss battles I think. “Evolution of [this boss] in [these games]”. There you can show the boss battle, then move on. But now we’re getting “Evolution of the Butterfly in Kirby Games” and it’s like… why do you even need to format the title like that? Can’t it just be like, “the butterfly’s appearances in kirby games” or “the butterfly keeps appearing in kirby, CONSPIRACY!!” Yes I am recommending people put conspiracy int their titles instead of evolution. I don’t know.

Do a search for “Evolution of * in * games” and what do you get?

Evolution of Final Attacks in Kirby games ᴴᴰ (2011 – 2018)
Evolution of Final Boss Deaths in Kirby Games (1992-2018)
Evolution of Final Bosses in Kirby Games (1992-2018)
Evolution of Spider-Man Games 1982-2018
Evolution of Rick in Kirby Games (1995 – 2018)
Evolution of Kine in Kirby Games (1995 – 2018)
Evolution of Coo in Kirby Games (1995 – 2018)

You can’t just like… Rick throughout Kirby games? Rick from Kirby? No? You have to copy? This is the new Let’s Play, isn’t it? And not only that, but what does Evolution of Rick in Kirby Games even entail?? It just… shows… footage of Rick. That’s it. That’s just. I don’t get it. This is so weird now. I suppose on this side of my considerations you could argue that some people might be looking up videos specifically to check something, maybe they’re writing or drawing fan stuff with Rick and want to see everthing, so that’s fine, in the end.

BUT CAN’T YOU CALL IT “HISTORY OF RICK IN KIRBY GAMES”?? EVOLUTION DOESN’T EVEN MAKE SENSE HERE. You’re blatantly copying the first person to use what is arguably a terrible title!

I don’t know why I’m yelling, it’s not that big a deal.

Yooka-Laylee is here (and updates are near!)

Hey! I got a game in the mail yesterday! It’s Yooka-Laylee! I made a video.

I will have many more videos over the next week with more detailed thoughts on my impressions of the game. I went on a bit on Twitter about my thoughts regarding setting it up and I think a bit about the actual rollout of the game to Kickstarter backers, or, I might have only said that on Kickstarter itself.

Unrelated, I was thinking recently I don’t post here often enough. I often say that. Not here, though. I don’t post here often enough to say that here often enough. But if I keep saying I don’t post here often enough then maybe I will have said it here often.

I realized I say quite a bit on Twitter and sometimes have updates there. However, not everyone has Twitter. I do not blame those who don’t. I want to put notable or important updates on my website more, but I realized posting on here is just a hassle compared to Twitter. I have to go through several pages, oh my goodness, but mostly it’s just that WordPress is slow. For some reason it loads and moves slow and slows down my browser. I don’t know what it is.

Anyway I’m going to post simple updates here more often, such as each individual Pokemon comic instead of 10 at once (Next one coming tomorrow!). Nnnnot the YL videos, though. That’s a bit much. If you’re interested I plan to just have a new video once a day in a normal week (and some extra ones this weekend) until I run out of videos to post. I also might try to make posts in here when I sometimes run the risk of going on for a bit on Twitter. I need to make this place look alive, after all. It’s way more important than Twitter. Twitter’s just dumb jokes. This is writing.

Oh speaking of updates I’ll also have a new profile tomorrow or Sunday. I’ll be busy tomorrow with birthday shenaginags (oh yeah today’s my birthday) and Sunday I’ll probably go visit relatives but I’m sure I’ll get it up one of those days.

Top Character Profile and Patreon Video

The character profile for Top is now available to read. A bit of this information is that which is pertinent later, but most of it is general or made clear in the first chapter. Top has kind of a weird relationship to me–Numer and the other slubes were created before Top, but I wrote stories with Top a lot more in the latter half of the previous decade, so I have some attachment to the little oddball.

There is also a new Patreon intro video for my Patreon page! Take a look, IT HAS ME HUMMING A LOT:

As it turns out, starting today $3+ patrons can read chapter 2 of Wandering Fortunes before anyone else.

One more thing to make note: I’ve gotten Darmenzi back from the editor! It’s time to pull that open and get to work on finishing this second book. I’ll keep you posted on the updates.

Creator Highlight: James Stuart

I’ve just changed the title for this to creator, because I figured, hey, if I’m doing more than just story-authors, why not do comics, too? I read a lot of comics, it turns out. So why not take a look at a comic? Why not took a lake– Sorry, what? I mean, why not take a look at a comic by an Australian pal of mine, James, called Sam the Dawg.

I mean, sure, he has a wonky update schedule where he doesn’t always update, but he’s been updating again, so why not get it noticed so that he can be totally embarrassed if he falls behind again? Yes, I am sometimes evil. I mean helpful.

Anyway! Sam the Dawg is a comic mostly about a dog named Sam. It doesn’t have a particularly established canon really, he generally appears to have an owner who at least has the same name as James. It’s a pretty clever and cute comic that generally seems to be about whatever he comes up with (there have been a few without Sam in the past, as well). James also works on other art and projects (and university) which is why the comic doesn’t always have updates but anyway before I lose track of what I’m saying I’ma just post some comics!

In fact, he updated with one just today. It has pirates!

Like all good webcomics, there are also sometimes video game references.

So I was scrolling through looking for something both good and that wouldn’t need other comics to understand and somehow traveled three years into the past. His art style has changed over time. I remember when he decided to start drawing Sam with a mouth that didn’t look just pasted on!

A lot of 2014 and 2015 had comics related to one another. There was an ongoing story involving a shovel, as well as the start of a short-lived series called Maximum Punch.

And then there’s this classic one that’s just silly.

And here’s a couple fun ones about Animal Crossing.

Anyway, there’s some highlights. I recommend checking out more! Comics from before 2013 have a lot more simplistic style than the later ones, although I wouldn’t say they were worse (note: I only wouldn’t say that because I’d have go look back through and compare them, and I’ve taken too long on this post as it is, as I do with every blog post, so I’m gonna end it soon).

One last thing I’ll note is that he’s also done some animation work. This one is pretty neat!

Oh yeah, and James was the guy who drew the art for the Nobody Ever Visits the Magma Monster shirt for the Cloudy Cuckoo Cosmos that’s available, and no I didn’t just highlight James so I could mention that.

ART: The Conqueror animation

I like to draw sometimes. I’m not any good at it, but I still like to do it. And by not any good, I mean if I draw in a style that allows me to not care if it turns out good or not, it can turn out, well, decent, anyway. Especially for being drawn with a figgin computer mouse. I’ve been thinking of drawing some characters from the Cloudy Cuckoo Cosmos in a simplified style I’ve had going on, so I might post some of those drawings here. For right now here’s a simple two-frame animation of Conrad I made that I plan to use in a new Patreon intro video I’m planning to make later.

I play video games

Two or three months ago I started an LP (“Lettuce Play”, it’s healthy) of Octodad: Dadliest Catch, shortly after getting back into the LP scene because my microphone was replaced. Then my replacement microphone died and I had to get a replacement replacement microphone. I’ve heard the microphone I have is good, I guess I just have THE WORST LUCK WITH TECHNOLOGY

Anyway now that I got another replacement I’m doing it again, I’ll finish this game next week, and also, every single video of this series is of a length that starts with a different digit. I am the worst at timing things.

Bit of an update, lots of work

Oof, this week has been super busy. After reading through the next novel, Wandering Fortunes, to figure out what scenes I need to add and major changes, I went through and MADE those changes. There’s a lot. Fortunately I’m about done, and I just checked and the last group of chapters has a massive amount of big editing and scenes to add and oh gourd I’m gonna die tomorrow. I might have to push back my goal of finishing this tomorrow.

Everything but this paragraph I wrote like yesterday I think? Basically I just right now finished writing a new scene/big extension of a scene, and the next chapter begins with another new scene/extension of a scene. Besides a little beyond that, I’ve basically pushed my goal to finishing this on Wednesday. That means that things will be calmer for me next week, at least. Other things I want to do next week include editing the website a bit, and since I got my second replacement microphone recently I have some changes to the Patreon planned (with a new front page video) and I also want to get back to doing some Let’s Playing, I started doing it again like two months ago and then my microphone died. Now for more stuff I wrote like yesterday or something:

Due to this work, I’ve not been too active on the social medias. Fortunately once I do get this done things will calm down–I have a few widespread edits, but they’re focused mostly on specific words or punctuation, and then I’ll start focusing deeply on a chapter-by-chapter basis, which will allow me to slow down and give myself more time.
