Mad Physicist
Dr. Fara is a mad scientist who specializes in physics. Her madness allows her to perform experiments and build devices that break the normal laws of physics, working out ways around them that shouldn’t be possible and wouldn’t be to a sane person. This gives her a wide range of capability, as she’s able to warp space and time with her gadgets, as well as physically warp someone’s senses to whatever she likes. She can hop universes, open portals to anywhere in the world or other worlds, and restrain her enemies and anyone else she sees fit to.
Mad Fun
Despite her impressive capabilities, Dr. Fara tends to do little more than play and experiment with her devices, such as going to a volcano for a barbecue, visiting the beach to freeze the ocean, or opening a portal to the north pole to capture elves to bake into Christmas cookies. She seems to have little goal beyond amusement and scientific curiosity; though she’ll sometimes break into a tirade of conquering the world, she often forgets when something else grabs her attention. She says she has no rival and no peers: she “made sure of that on her way out.” When she does make a plan, it appears to amount to little more than poking around at the fabric of reality, unless she gets a crazy idea for a new device, but those are usually just used to amuse herself.
Something Something Domination
Dr. Fara has several half-completed doomsday devices from when she got inspiration and a plan for some purpose, usually holding the world hostage. She claims none of them have been used, although she also claims she has destroyed other universes. Most of her work is focused on more localized domination, which is to say, she has kidnapped people in the past to experiment on. Some of them she took control of to turn into minions, while others she froze in time to use as test subjects when she’s feeling . . . frisky.
Test Subs
While Dr. Fara will claim her experiments are all in the name of scientific pursuit and possibly destroying her enemies and ruling the world, when she really gets into an experiment on someone she can seem a little too eager at times. This playful energy can even be infectious, figuratively or literally, but while she can warp the physical sensations of her work to only pleasure for the subject, she seems more interested in making sure they feel every sensation as it is supposed to. Whether she’s warping the physical form of someone into a new shape, using a device to control their body, or just restraining them frozen in place so she can examine them in detail, she’ll sometimes rush into it and often demand privacy.
Brain Grab
Dr. Fara has built a portal gun designed to pull people’s brains out of their heads. She has a few mechanical bodies and abominations of various shapes to put them in and force the captured mind to do her bidding. The resulting mindless body can mov̸e̴ ̷o̴n̵ ̸h̵e̸r̴ ̷c̸o̵m̸m̵a̴n̴d̶,̶ ̵a̴n̵d̷ ̵i̴t̶’̷s̴ ̷u̶n̷c̶l̵e̶a̸r̴ ̵w̸h̵a̷t̵ ̵s̷h̶e̵ ̸r̵e̵p̸l̸a̷c̴e̴s̶ ̵t̷h̷e̷ ̴b̷r̴a̴i̵n̶ ̸w̵i̶t̸h̵.̴ ̵S̶o̷m̷e̷ ̵o̶f̸ ̷h̸e̵r̸ ̴g̶r̴o̸w̸n̷ ̴a̸b̷o̷m̷i̵n̴a̵t̷i̸o̵n̴s̵ ̷s̴e̷e̷͎͙̎̓m̵͇͂̍ͅ ̷̼̅̒ț̴̛̙̄o̶̝̿ ̸̢̊l̴͍̉̉e̶̮͗ą̴̡̉͌k̴̻͐̚ ̸̦̆͑d̴̜̦̉a̸͙̘͆ŕ̵͕̼͠k̷̙̟̓̊,̸̫̯͊̏ ̴̧̤͋̊v̷̬̫̋͐i̶͚͖͛ş̸̳͋c̵͚̆̚o̷̬̐̚ǘ̷̹̀ṣ̶̀̎ ̵͙͊̐f̸̱̔͛ͅl̴͈͇̓͠ù̸͕͙̄i̶̠̺͑̄5̶̞̈́̎$̴̛̝͚͘E̷͆́͜z̶̪͒0̵̰͌͗9̸̡͙̐e̸͖̊f̷͕̼̓̈s̴̞͝ͅT̸͙͎̕A̶͔͆̇R̶̜̔l̶̖̫̇i̶̼̊g̵̺͠ḥ̵͑t̵̲͝%̸̻̈́̕&̵̡̞͐^̵̮͍̕$̴̱̀̀2̷͖̜̾3̴͇̫͗̾4̷̨̃͌%̷̢͋͐}̸̙̚$̷̖͐͠
Blind Mad, or Mad Vision?
While her mad genius is a great strength, it’s perhaps her greatest weakness as well. If she becomes angry, she’s likely to forget why before long. While she might kidnap someone to experiment on, it’s fairly easy to distract her long enough to escape if one keeps their wits about them. If she’s distracted long enough, a would-be test subject could convince her they actually just made a delivery, and maybe even get a tip out of it. However, more than one escapee has found she’s more than willing to kidnap a delivery person for her test subject, so distracting her to escape isn’t a guarantee. Her mad genius could blind her to the obvious, or she may be so many steps ahead of everyone else that she’s mapped out exactly what will happen and started doodling in the corner waiting for everyone else to catch up.
Dam the Mad
While Dr. Fara tends to have an infectiously manic energy, at times she can suddenly slow to quiet and stoic activity, speaking little and avoiding eye contact. She’ll appear disinterested, and while she might continue her work as usual she’ll show little excitement over it. At times it seems like she might have a moment of sanity and regret here, but she may just be in a low energy mode, or have entered a hyperfocused state that leaves her ignoring much else. It won’t be long before she returns to a manic disposition.
Universal on the Run
Dr. Fara has hopped universes so many times she’s lost count. Usually she warps most of her lab to the new universe, but sometimes her preparations fail and she only has enough time to take some essential lab equipment. She also doesn’t always take her minions and assistants with her, usually because the authorities are on her tail and she shoves them in as a distraction while she escapes with her lab. While she typically says it’s the law that prompts her to find new stomping grounds, she has let slip that sometimes her experiments have broken a universe and left it uninhabitable. She’s never stated what prompted her first universe hop.
Rocket Work
Old papers in Dr. Fara’s scattered mess of documents give some hints to her past before going mad, including a fascination with space and a college degree in physics. She has stated that she actually avoided the world of mad scientists in her old home, and she got a respectable a job working for a space exploration organization, though she often says her outlandish ideas were L̶A̴U̵G̷H̷E̷D̶ at. Comments by her about such organization and government leadership may hint that the group she worked for changed focus by military leaders from exploration to invading other countries. Despair, Despots, and Die!
Dr. Fara will rail against despots and tyrants, and she will assist in toppling them if asked to, or if she sets up her lab near one, or if she happens to open a portal near one, or if she hears about one. Her rants suggest her madness may have been triggered in part by would-be conquerors. That said, while she may take down despots, she’s more than likely to instate herself as the new tyrant and be just as oppressive, using the local residents as test subjects and tearing the land apart.
Persuasion Doesn’t Work? Try Threats!
Despite being mad and disorganized, Dr. Fara can be quite persuasive. This is in part because her madness can be rather straightforward, resulting in people agreeing without realizing what they’re even agreeing to. Other times it’s simply because she’s persistent, and will continue to press an issue as if she’s never brought it up before until someone simply gives in. When persuasion doesn’t work, though, she’s also good at threats. She usually enjoys the threats more, anyway, and will sometimes even skip straight over them to mind control.
Employment Practices
Despite being fierce at persuasion and threats, and often simply using some form of direct control on her employees, Dr. Fara has surprisingly fair employment practices, giving her employees a wide variety of perks. Most of these are outside the norm, as it’s difficult for her to operate within the confines of normal laws, but her ability to open holes through space and into other worlds means she can provide things most other employers can’t. She’ll kidnap a talented doctor for her employees’ health care needs, or warp all the gold out of a mountain as an employee bonus. Given how many of her employees have been displaced by her, it’s the least she can do. Some of them she does eventually return home, while others she’ll abandon while escaping to another universe. As of late, she’s only had one permanent employee, her naga secretary Alya.
Snake Secretary
Dr. Fara has plucked many from their worlds over the span of her career. Alya Slacen is only one of them, a naga who immediately took an interest in her and tried to hypnotize her. Dr. Fara quickly responded by using a gadget to take control of Alya and make her clean the lab. When she absentmindedly released Alya from her control the naga expressed pleasure with the circumstances, and Dr. Fara hired her on full time as a secretary and inventory manager (her big, strong tail making much equipment moving trivial (even though Dr. Fara can move things effortlessly with some of her gadgets)), as well as a recruiter (her hypnotic powers being useful to keep employees, test subjects, and her enemies in line). Alya willingly lets Fara perform some experiments on her, too. Dr. Fara has had some other employees since, but those met an untimely demise or were otherwise discarded.
Delightful Dinosaurs
Some of Dr. Fara’s notes suggest that, while she had interest in physics growing up, she was also interested in dinosaurs. This interest seems to have remained with her over the years, as every so often she’ll open a portal to a world of dinosaurs and take one into the lab to use as a mascot. This is always short-lived, as it’s difficult to keep a creature from another time period fed properly and healthy, but she always makes extra funds selling the meat as a luxury item.
Corporate Clash
Though Dr. Fara is no fan of despots, she is willing to work with tyrants on her own terms. She’s also willing to work with international corporations, though she’s more wary of them. In one instance she brought forth a monstrous tyrant from another world and offered an alliance to cause some widespread mayhem, but this tyrant happened to bear the name and likeness of a copyrighted fictional character in that universe, and the corporate lawyers swiftly sent a cease and desist. Not one to trifle with corporate power, Dr. Fara sent the tyrant to the company. Last she heard he became their president.
Trans-Universal Railroad
Another enduring interest of Dr. Fara’s is trains. She enjoys riding them and mapping them out, and in one universe set up her lab on a constantly moving train. She once attempted a railroad through several universes to allow travel between them. While her initial train experiments showed promise, and she managed to bulldoze several suns to make the connections easier, the holes she opened to form the railroad ultimately caused the universes to twist through each other and shatter, ending that project—at least, for the time being.
Pocket Dimension
Among all the tools Dr. Fara has developed, from portals to other worlds to devices shifting objects of any size through space with ease, one of her proudest is her pocket dimension. Her initial experiments were a success, turning the pockets in her lab coat bigger on the inside and allowing her to store a nigh-infinite amount of small items in them, and eventually she was able to make a pocket dimension big enough for her to enter and decorate as a private room. For those test subjects she really wants to get intimate with she’ll pulls them inside, as she has total control over the layout and objects in her pocket dimension. What she can create and have happen in her pocket dimension is limited only by her mad imagination. There are some strange cracks at places, though ,which might suggest she once tri̸e̵d̸ ̵t̷o̶ ̸p̷u̶l̵l̴ ̷̬̖͍͔̹̼̜͒͑̈́̂̐̃̇̚ͅs̸͎̘͓̘̫̩̏̇̿̐̌̈̊͐ö̴͕́͊̒̅͑͜͝m̴̧͔͍̓̓͊̋̍͒͋̚̕͜Ė̵̠̳̠̱̉̑͗͋͂T̷̰͔̘̯̫̿͝Ḫ̷̈́͊Į̴̨̬̭̮̼̰̙̄͒̅ͅͅm̴͈̳̈́̒̄̍̍̌̇͠m̷̢̱̰̥̮͙̥̾̃͗̑͆̃̾́̕m̵̡̗̪͎͙̻̑̄̇͝ě̵̛̗͈͔̞̑́̊͒͘̕͝ǵ̶̛̖̰̠̹͉͖̭̱͂̂̅̿͐̄̿͐ ̴̢̠̤̪̪͉͇̊̀̓̓͐̀̑͗̓͗ͅt̶̛̫̘̑̌ͅt̶͚̐͐͋̋̏̒̍͠o̸̦̹̬̽͜͜o̴̞̓̋̊%̸̨̧̥̣͉͔͕̠͎̌̿̆́̒͝Ḃ̵̨͑̒͋̓͆̈́͂Ī̵̡̤̰̭͇͈̣̳͋͌͛G̶͎̤̭̜̜̳̥̯̤̉̏̊ͅg̶̗̥͇͚̰̣̱̳̣̋̋͜g̵̘̈́̂͆̈́̎̌̐͒͝g̴̢̧̯̊%̸̟̣͕͔̎̓̅̓̇̑͌̕ͅ%̴̛̰͎͒̒̽͌͌̑̈́̕͘S̷͓̼̜̦̪̐̾̑̈́͝͝P̴̘̬̍̓̈́̀̐̄̀̅͝%̶͙͔̹͉͍̗̰͖̏̇̂̑̽̄̂̃̚ͅ$̷̟͔̲̰͎̭̜̜̘̔̃̈́|̵̣̥̳̻̝̊͒͝\̸̡̨̻͎̯̠̻͙̬̏̒̐̈ͅ5̶͉̐̾͌͑̈͗͒4̷̨̛͈̳̲̯̱̤͔͙̉̃̓́̉̔̈͂͜͝D̸̺́́̌R̸̛̞͔̮̰̦͔̱̾̈́̔̄̉̈́̍͒Î̶̝̣̭͓̹̻͕̳̊̄̊́C̵̣͌́̆̓̒͋̒Ḵ̶̩̒̃̇͑̅͂̏͝͝T̵͓̣̫͗̐̂̐͛͌͠͠Ḉ̶̛͓̭̥̯͆͂͛H̵͚̤̲̝̮̮̗̬̦̄̎̔ͅ#̸̤̗͖̖͓̈̏̀̅̾%̷̛̝͕͔̾̄͗̋͗̕͝$̴̡̢͖̩̘̭̫̄͜^̵̤̲̲́̊͊̒̆͂͝&̸̢̞̞̝̳̠̃͌̉\̵̢͉͓̰͌̅͝’̵̢͕͇̟̣̠̀o̸̢͕͈̠̦͕͕̺͊k̷̨̯͕̯̖̰͉͕̙͂̐͛o̵̡̨̲͈̲̦͉͜͝ͅͅk̶̘̺͗̔͊̀̉͒͘ͅo̷̹͎̝̜̤̰̬̚ḱ̸͎̮͓̫͎̙̻͗̒̌̊̊̕͝7̴̜̯̞͔̀̀̒͗͌̎̕ͅ7̶̨̬̜̐̄́͆7̶̺͉̱̪̫̈́͋ͅś̵̬͔̙͋̈̈̈́̍͐͐̓͘h̶̰̘͍͔̬͉̗͑͆̀̆̽͆͝͝ḥ̶̟̙͎͓̥̈́͊̿̚͝͝h̴̢̛̦̤̱̜̪͖̀̈h̶̢͉̮͆̆́͋̇̋̀̕ả̵̰͐̅͌̇͊̾̏͗̽t̶͂̃̓̀͝͠ͅt̷̡͕̮̑̌̐͐̾̀͗̍e̸̥̾̿͘r̷̫͎̪̙͓͕̋̒̉̀͂k̵͔̘̎͒̉̈̀̉͋̂͘%̴̨̧͎͈̑͐$̸̲͎̖͋́̋͝D̶͓̩̯͊̊̊̔̑̌̎͘Y̴͓͍͕̤̏̋̌̂͂̓Ṭ̶̨͕͚̠̘͉͕̎̑̈́̏̈́͝\̶̛̤̹̥̦̘̙͑̓̓̾4̸̠̠̞͓̻̬͓́́3̷̛̛͎̯̠̙̯͇̦͉͐́̐̏̀͋̒́W̴̫̪̜̬̗͓̥̺̹̉̈́̀͒̇̓ͅE̶̱̾̋̔͋̓̇L̸͖̺̳̩̠̥̣̯̀̽̽̓̈́͑́̓̅͝Ḻ̸̞̩̼̤̍̀͛͛͠Ţ̵͉͖̰̬̘̯̬͔͗H̷̢̜̘͙̬̍̏͛̽̈́͋̕ͅẸ̷̱̤̟̟͈̗͑̈́̈́̓̾̚͜͠͝ͅN̴͙̻͕̙̯͓̯̍̄͊͑̂
